Two Chinese manufacturers of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft are partnering with a Shenzhen district government to trial their flying vehicles, as the southern Chinese city strives to become a “low-altitude economic hub.”

EHang Holdings Ltd. and Shanghai AutoFlight Co. Ltd. signed memorandums of understanding Thursday with the government of Shenzhen’s Baoan district to explore the use of eVTOLs locally, according to statements from the companies.
